Maternity wear and pregnancy essentials for every trimester

Here you'll find what we make for pregnancy: maternity leggings, bras and knickers that stretch as your bump grows, support belts and bands, compression socks, the Moon Pregnancy Pillow, and birthing balls and a peanut ball for labour.

Most of it you'll buy as you go rather than all at once. Maternity knickers and leggings usually come first, once your own start to dig in, and the rest tends to follow the aches: a support belt or band when your lower back or pelvis is complaining by the afternoon, a birthing ball when the sofa stops being comfortable, and the pillow once sleeping on your side gets harder.

Where there's a choice, it's usually between soft and supportive. The Comfort+ leggings are soft bamboo for everyday wear and the Activ+ pair has a firmer, locked-in fit for exercise. Our Maternity Bra gives soft support, and the Support+ Maternity Bra is firmer for a fuller bust, still with no wires.

Everything that comes in sizes has a size guide on its page. Our knickers and leggings come up small, so check it before you order, especially for knickers, which can't be returned once they're opened.

Questions, answered.

What will I need first?

Usually maternity knickers and leggings, when your own start to dig in or leave marks; there's no set week. After that, buy things as you need them: a support belt when your bump starts pulling on your back, a birthing ball when sitting starts to ache, and a pregnancy pillow once side sleeping gets harder. The NHS advises going to sleep on your side from 28 weeks.

Should I choose the Activ+ or the Comfort+ maternity leggings?

Comfort+ for everyday wear: they're 86% bamboo, soft and breathable. Activ+ for exercise and long days on your feet, as they're a nylon, polyester and elastane blend with a firmer, locked-in fit that stays opaque when you squat. Both have a panel that goes up and over your bump and keeps stretching as you grow.

Under-bump or over-bump knickers?

Under-bump knickers sit lower and are cooler, which many people prefer earlier in pregnancy and in warm weather. Over-bump knickers cover the bump, stay put and keep it warm, so they tend to suit later pregnancy and winter. Plenty of people have both and switch as the bump grows.

Do I need the support belt or the support band?

The band is one wide piece that goes on in seconds, for lighter everyday support under your bump and across your lower back. The belt comes in three parts that you add as you grow, with a back section and a strap over the top of your bump, and gives the most support later on. Neither is a medical device, so if pain is bad or stopping you getting about, tell your midwife.

Can I return things if the size is wrong?

Leggings, bras and support belts come with 30 day returns from your order date, as long as they're unused, with the tags on. For hygiene reasons, knickers and socks can't be returned once they're opened, so it's worth a minute with the size guide first.
