High-waisted support for your tummy after the birth

In the weeks after the birth your tummy is tender, and ordinary leggings either dig in or slide down. These postpartum leggings have a high, wide waistband with a U-shaped compression band across the front, so the support is gentle and even and nothing cuts in.

The front is cut higher than the back, so it sits well above the usual C-section incision line, with no seam resting on your incision.

The fabric is thick and opaque, so they're not see-through when you bend or squat, and they're made for busy days, from pushing the pram to easing back into exercise.

They're comfortable enough to live in. Take the twin pack if you'd like a spare pair for wash days.

Which way round do they go?

The taller, wider panel goes at the front, over your tummy, and the seam detail at the back. Hold them up before you put them on: the front rises noticeably higher than the back, because that's the part made to support your tummy and sit above a C-section scar.

What size should I order?

Go by your dress size now rather than before you were pregnant: S is 6 to 8, M 10 to 12, L 12 to 14, XL 14 to 16 and XXL 16 to 18. If you're between two sizes, take the bigger one, because leggings that press on a tender tummy don't get worn. They look small out of the packet, but they stretch.

Can I wear them after a C-section?

Yes, once your wound has healed, and ideally after your six-week check, since they have compression built in. The front sits well above the usual incision line, so no seam rests on your scar. If they pull at the scar or you feel any numbness, take them off and speak to your midwife or GP.

Will they help with tummy muscle separation?

Not on their own, and nothing you wear will. The compression can make moving and lifting feel better supported, but closing a gap in your tummy muscles (diastasis recti) takes gradual rehab exercises, ideally with a pelvic health physiotherapist.

How are they different from maternity leggings?

These are made for after the birth, with a higher waist and firmer compression across your tummy. Our Activ+ Maternity Leggings have a stretchy panel that goes over a growing bump, so wear those while you're pregnant and move into these afterwards.

Comfy and perfect fit
Bought for my DIL after a c section, she loves them. Very good fit, supportive and look good too. She says that she feels more like herself while wearing them and they support her tummy while she heals.
