What size should I order?

Order your child's usual age size, and go up if they are tall for their age or you want room to grow. Sizes run 12-18m through to 7-8y. A small number of parents tell us they prefer the next size up for a roomier fit at night, so if your child is between sizes we would take the larger one. The bamboo has natural stretch, but pyjamas are more comfortable with a little room than fitted closely.

What are they made from?

95% organic bamboo with 5% elastane, the same blend as our sleepsuits. Bamboo is naturally hypoallergenic and thermo-regulating, which is why it suits children who overheat at night or have sensitive or eczema-prone skin. It is noticeably softer than a standard cotton pyjama, and breathable enough that a child in a warm bedroom is less likely to wake up clammy.

Do pyjamas have a TOG rating?

No. TOG applies to sleeping bags and duvets, not to nightwear. What matters with pyjamas is the room temperature and what is on the bed. In a room at 16 to 20°C, which is what the NHS recommends, bamboo pyjamas with an appropriate duvet are usually right. Bamboo's thermo-regulating quality gives you more margin than a synthetic fabric would.

Are they suitable for children with eczema or sensitive skin?

Bamboo is a common choice for exactly this reason. It is naturally hypoallergenic, smooth against the skin and breathable, so it tends to irritate less than rougher or synthetic fabrics and helps reduce the overheating that often triggers night-time itching. We would still recommend washing before first wear, and skipping fabric softener, which is a frequent irritant in its own right.

Can a baby brother or sister match?

Yes, and it is one of the favourite things about this range. The same prints run across our baby zip sleepsuits and these kids pyjamas, so a baby in a tartan sleepsuit can match an older child in tartan pyjamas, with pyjama sizes running right through to 7-8y. It makes Christmas mornings and family photos very easy, and it is a popular route for gifts.

Still bright after washing (we keep reaching for it)
I was unsure whether we really needed it, but it has proved its worth. The print has stayed bright and the material has not twisted in the wash. There is enough stretch for climbing into bed and morning play.
