Because a single magnetic key gets put down and lost, usually within the first month. If it is the only one in the house, every locked cupboard is a problem until it turns up. Most people buy replacements not because they have lost the original but because keeping one key in each room is far more practical than carrying one around.
One per room where you have fitted locks, which for most homes means the kitchen, the bathroom and a utility room or living room. Each key mounts to the wall with 3M™ adhesive so it stays exactly where you left it, mounted high enough to be out of a child's reach but somewhere you can grab it without thinking.
Yes, they work with our Child Safety Locks and with the locks supplied in the Baby Proofing Kit. If you have fitted our magnetic locks anywhere in the house, these keys will release them. They are a straightforward addition rather than a different system, so there is nothing to pair or configure.
High on a wall or the side of a unit, near the cupboards it opens but well above a child's reach, including their reach when standing on something. Avoid mounting it on the fridge, which is the first place a child looks and the first surface they can reach. Clean and dry the surface first and give the adhesive 24 hours before hanging a key on it.
Not in normal household use. What causes a magnetic key to seem weaker is usually a lock that has shifted slightly out of alignment rather than the magnet itself losing strength. If a cupboard that used to open easily has become temperamental, check the alignment of the catch inside before assuming the key is the problem.
