A nursing bra opens for a baby to feed. A pumping bra holds pump flanges in position so you can express completely hands-free, which is the whole point. Trying to hold two flanges in place for twenty minutes while doing nothing else is the reason most people buy one within a fortnight of starting to pump regularly.
It is designed to hold standard flanges, including those supplied with our Air™ Electric Breast Pump, and works with most common wearable and traditional pumps. The opening holds the flange against the breast with even pressure, which is what maintains the seal. If your pump has an unusually large flange body, it is worth checking dimensions first.
Order your current size, and note that some customers find the fit runs slightly small, so if you are between sizes take the larger one. Sizes run S to XL, in a single or twin pack. A pumping bra needs to be firm to hold flanges in place, so it will feel closer-fitting than a soft nursing bra by design.
It is designed for pumping sessions rather than as an all-day bra, because the fit that holds a flange securely is firmer than you would want to wear for twelve hours. Many people put it on for a session and change back afterwards, or buy the twin pack so there is always one to hand near where they pump.
