Complete with a U-shaped compression band, they offer gentle compression and support as your body changes shape and recovers after birth.

The higher, wider panel goes at the front, over your stomach, with the seam detail at the back. The quickest way to check is to hold them up: the front rise is noticeably taller than the back, because that is the section designed to support your abdomen and sit clear of a C-section scar. The compression is built into that panel rather than running through the whole legging.
These are built for recovery rather than for a bump. They have a higher waist and firmer compression through the abdomen to support the muscles after birth, where maternity leggings have a stretch panel designed to accommodate a growing bump. The fabric is different too, at 88% nylon and 12% elastane for a more supportive feel. Many people use maternity leggings first and move into these afterwards.
Yes, and the high waist is designed with that in mind, sitting well above the usual incision line so no seam rests on healing tissue. That said, wait until your wound has healed and ideally until after your six week check before wearing anything with compression. If they feel like they are pulling at the scar or causing numbness, stop and speak to your midwife or GP.
After a straightforward vaginal birth, most people are comfortable within the first week or two. After a C-section, wait until your wound has healed and you have been cleared, usually at the six week check. Compression can make moving and lifting more comfortable, but it does not close abdominal separation on its own. That needs progressive rehabilitation, ideally with a pelvic health physiotherapist.
Order your late-pregnancy size rather than your pre-pregnancy size, and size up if you are between sizes. Your body does not return to its previous shape immediately, and leggings that compress an already tender abdomen simply will not get worn. Sizes run S to XXL. You can always move down a size later, and most people find they wear these well past the first few months.
