How to Fit the BABYGO® Door Handle Lock

The BABYGO® Door Handle Lock sticks to the door just under a lever handle and stops the handle being pushed down, so the door stays shut until an adult releases it. Fitting it takes a minute, with no drilling and no tools.

Watch the short video, or follow the steps below.

Before you start

It fits the standard lever handles found in most UK homes, on wood, PVC, metal or glass doors. It will not fit round doorknobs. If your levers are very short or an unusual shape, measure first: the lock is 12.5 cm long and 4 cm wide, with a 7.5 cm arm.

How to fit it

  1. Clean and dry the door. Wipe the area just under the handle with something that leaves no residue, then let it dry completely. On a bathroom door, make sure the surface is properly dry.
  2. Peel off the backing from the 3M™ adhesive pad.
  3. Position it under the handle. Line the lock up on the door directly below the lever, with the top of the lock right under the handle, then press it firmly in place.
  4. Give it time. Leave it 24 hours before heavy use. The bond keeps getting stronger over the first three days.

Opening the door

Squeeze the two side buttons and slide, and the handle is free to push down. It takes you a second, but it is a two step move most toddlers cannot work out.

Switching it off

When the children are out or asleep, slide it into its unlocked position and the door works as normal, with nothing to reset each time you walk through. Slide it back when you need it again.

Taking it off

The adhesive is made to come off without damaging the door or handle, so it suits a rented home. As with our other 3M™ products, warming the pad with a hairdryer first makes it easier to ease off.
