The BABYGO® Window Restrictor stops an outward opening window at a child safe gap, so the room gets fresh air but the window opens no further. It sticks on with 3M™ VHB adhesive, so there is no drilling, and it goes on upright or sideways to suit your window.
Watch the short video, or follow the steps below.
Before you start
It suits casement windows that open outwards, in UPVC, wood, metal or aluminium. It needs a flat surface on both the frame and the opening window: the base is 8.5 by 3.5 cm, and the track is 20 cm long and 1.5 cm deep. It is not suitable for sliding or sash windows, or for deeply bevelled or heavily textured frames.
How to fit it
- Clean the frame well. UPVC and painted frames often carry a film from cleaning products, so wipe both fitting spots thoroughly, then let them dry.
- Peel off the backing from the 3M™ VHB pads.
- Press each part firmly into place, one on the fixed frame and one on the opening window, lined up as shown in the video so the arm runs straight along its track.
- Leave it 24 hours before you rely on it, so the adhesive can cure.
Opening the window fully
Press the buttons to release the arm, and the window opens all the way. It is a double action, made to be hard for small hands and quick for an adult. Windows can be a way out in a fire, so make sure everyone in the house who might need to open that window knows how it works.
Keeping a cat in
Plenty of people fit one to keep a cat in as well. Check it holds with the window open before you leave the room.
