BABYGO® Baby Sleeping Bag
Pairs well with
A soft bamboo sleeping bag your baby can't kick off
Blankets get kicked off in the night, and then you're up checking whether your baby's cold. A sleeping bag does the blanket's job but zips on, so it stays put, and the Lullaby Trust lists a well-fitting sleep bag as one of the safe choices for cot bedding.
Choose the TOG from the temperature of the room your baby sleeps in. The 2.5 TOG suits a typical UK bedroom at night, and this bag also comes in 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 3.5 TOG for warmer and colder rooms.
The zip runs from the feet end, so a nappy change is unzip, change, zip back up, with the bag still on. Poppers at the shoulders make it easy to get on in the first place.
The outer is 95% organic bamboo, soft and breathable. It comes in 0-9M, 9-18M and 18-36M; go by the fit at the neck and chest rather than the age on the label.

Questions, answered.
Which TOG do I need?
Go by the room temperature at night, measured with a thermometer rather than guessed. Most UK bedrooms sit at 16 to 20°C, which is 2.5 TOG, or 1.5 TOG if the room stays at 18 to 20°C. Below 16°C choose 3.5 TOG, from 21 to 23°C 1.0 TOG, and from 24°C 0.5 TOG.
What size should I choose?
Go by the neck and chest, not the age on the label. The 0-9M has a 31cm chest, 10cm neck and 70cm length, the 9-18M 35cm, 12cm and 90cm, and the 18-36M 38cm, 12cm and 102cm. The neck should sit close enough that your baby can't slip down inside, so if you can pull the opening up over their chin without effort, it's too big for now.
Can a newborn wear it?
Yes, once the neck fits closely. The 0-9M has a 10cm neck, so a small newborn may need a few weeks before it sits safely; until then, use a light swaddle or a sheet tucked in below the shoulders, with their feet at the foot of the cot.
What should my baby wear inside it?
Work from the room temperature. At 16 or 17°C, a long-sleeve bodysuit and a sleepsuit in a 2.5 TOG; at 18 to 20°C, a sleepsuit on its own in a 2.5 TOG, or a short-sleeve bodysuit and a sleepsuit in a 1.5. From 21 to 23°C, a short-sleeve bodysuit in a 1.0 TOG is plenty, and whatever the TOG, check their chest or the back of their neck rather than their hands.
Can I put a blanket over it?
No. The sleeping bag replaces the blanket, so nothing goes on top at any TOG; if the room is cold, change the layers underneath or go up a TOG. Keep the cot clear of pillows, duvets and bumpers too, and no hats indoors.
