Questions, answered.
From what age can I use the carrier?
It is designed to grow with your child from the newborn stage through toddlerhood, with adjustable panels and straps that change the seat width and height as your baby does. For a newborn the important thing is not age but position: your baby should be high enough on your chest to kiss, with their face clear and turned to the side, and their chin off their chest so the airway stays open.
How should my baby be positioned in it?
In a supported squat, with knees higher than the bottom and the thighs supported all the way to the knee, forming an M shape. This is what supports healthy hip development in the first months while the joints are still forming. Your baby should sit upright and close against your chest rather than hanging away from you, and you should be able to check their face at a glance without moving fabric.
Will it hurt my back on longer walks?
It should not, provided the weight is sitting on your hips rather than hanging off your shoulders. Tighten the waist belt first so it takes the load, then adjust the shoulder straps. The AirMesh™ panel is there to stop the heat build-up that makes long walks uncomfortable in warmer weather. If you are feeling it in your shoulders after twenty minutes, the waist belt is almost certainly too loose.
Can I use it after a C-section?
Usually yes, but wait until you are comfortable and ideally until after your six week check. The waist belt sits close to where a C-section scar is, so it can press in the early weeks. Positioning the belt higher, above the scar, helps a great deal. If anything pulls at the wound or feels sharp, stop and check with your midwife or GP before using it again.
Can both parents share one carrier?
Yes, it is designed to swap between wearers. The straps and waist belt adjust across a wide range of body shapes, and re-fitting takes moments rather than being a one-off setup, so one parent can hand over mid-walk when arms or shoulders need a break. The fit rules stay the same whoever is wearing it: weight on the hips, baby high enough to kiss, face visible and chin off chest.
Can I use it in winter?
Yes. Dress them in thin layers rather than a padded snowsuit, which bunches up in the carrier and makes them too hot. Wear the carrier under your coat, left open enough that their face is always clear, and add a hat and socks for the parts the carrier does not cover. Check the back of their neck now and then: warm is right, hot or damp means take a layer off. The AirMesh™ panel helps here, because the heat between you escapes instead of building up under your coat.
