Questions, answered.

What is World Breastfeeding Week?

It runs from 1 to 7 August every year and is coordinated by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action with support from the WHO and UNICEF. In the UK the focus is on practical support for mums in the first weeks, when most who stop breastfeeding say they wanted to carry on. Our Breastfeeding Week collection brings together the products that make feeding physically easier.

Which products actually help with breastfeeding?

A nursing pillow that lifts baby to breast height so you are not hunching, a nursing bra with a one-hand clip for night feeds, and breast milk storage bags if you plan to express. Those three cover the majority of the physical problems that make feeding tiring. The Air wearable pump is the addition for anyone expressing regularly or returning to work.

Do I need a nursing bra before the baby arrives?

Buy one before the birth and more afterwards. Your size in the last weeks of pregnancy is a reasonable guide for the first days, but breast size changes again when milk comes in around day three to five. Our seamless bras are wire free and stretch with you, which is why most mums buy a two or three pack rather than sizing up and down.

Where can I get free breastfeeding help in the UK?

The National Breastfeeding Helpline on 0300 100 0212 is open every day from 9.30am to 9.30pm and is run by trained volunteers. Your midwife and health visitor can refer you to a local infant feeding team, and many areas have drop-in groups run by La Leche League or the NCT. None of these cost anything, and a single session with a lactation specialist often solves a latch problem.

Can I return feeding products if I stop breastfeeding?

Bras and nursing pillows bought at full price can be returned within 30 days of the order date if they are unworn, unwashed and still have their tags; sale lines follow the terms on our Returns page. Breast pumps and peri bottles cannot be returned once opened, for hygiene reasons, so it is worth being sure before you unbox a pump. Exchanges for a different bra size go through the returns form.
